Coach BEN ZHUANG
CSCS, ACSM-CPT, FRCms, CES, BioForce, CISSN
Coach Ben Z is a professional strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer, and nutritionist who has been active in the fitness industry for over 15 years. He was first certified in 2003 by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. His work experience includes various commercial fitness centers such as Equinox and UFC Gym as well as private personal training and physical therapy studios.
Before starting 1A, Ben was a Tier 3 Trainer at Equinox and was the Program Director at the American Fitness and Nutrition Academy where he taught classes and mentored personal trainers. As well as running the 1A Fitness Bootcamp, Ben currently trains a handful of private clients ranging from soccer moms and average joes, to professional athletes and Fortune 500 CEOs.
Coach KEVIN MEJIA
NASM Certified Personal Trainer
Coach Kevin has been in the fitness industry as a trainer for over 3 years. He started his fitness journey as a cyclist and skateboarder before becoming a student of Coach Ben Z at the American Fitness and Nutrition Academy.
Prior to 1A, Kevin travelled and trained abroad in Germany where he spent a year and a half, he also was at Tier 3 Trainer at Equinox and worked with an online fitness startup between those two. Kevin is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as well as numerous other certifications ranging from kettlebells to pre and post-natal training.
Coach JUSTIN MASEN
NASM, AFAA Certified Personal Trainer
Justin has been training and coaching clients for 10 years. He started training in the weight room at age 14 for high school football and has kept it up since. His training modalities have changed over the years for the purposes of both Martial Arts and Powerlifting competitions. He is now focusing his training on Olympic Weightlifting.
Before joining the 1A team Justin earned his first AFAA Personal Training Certification in his Sophomore year of college. Since then he has worked with clients ranging from fifteen to seventy years of age at private gym facilities similar to 1A and in home for clients with special needs. He has multiple certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as well as over a decade of hands on experience with clients of all ages and athletic backgrounds.
